The GE40-FW-2RS-A INA is a spherical plain bearing. Spherical plain bearings are two-piece plain bearings. They have no rolling elements, but consist of an inner and outer ring. The inner ring has a spherical or convex surface. The outer ring has a concave inner surface. This design gives the spherical plain bearings their high load-bearing capacity and their ability to compensate for misalignment.
The GE40-FW-2RS-A INA features a steel/PTFE sliding contact surface, making this bearing maintenance-free. PTFE is a special plastic. During the running-in phase of these plain bearings, PTFE particles are deposited on the opposing raceway. These fill the small irregularities in the inner ring surface, creating a smooth surface. This ensures a perfect fit for the components.
